Overall, the premise, as described in the teaser is good, but poorly fleshed out.Teig and Prentiss are down-on-their-luck documentarians looking for the next big thing. The intensity was described but I never felt it. Some of the supernatural antagonists were outright silly. The story progressed linearly but there was no depth with backstory or insights into character. This kept me at a distance from the story. The narrative was highly visual, describing how things and events appeared. Not enough attention was given to the supernatural entities if they were supernatural at all. In the second third, I wondered, 'Is this it?' In the last third, I just wanted to get through it and move on. I think the author thought it was a cool title and used it. There was no mention of bones after the initial explanation. I'm not sure why the book was titled 'Road of Bones.' The story had little to do with the road other than they traveled and fled upon it. It sounded spine-tingling, but it wasn't. A supernatural menace chases the characters.
